A proper marine instrument in solid polished brass.

The Fischer 1605GU-45 combines an easy-to-read quartz clock with a separate tide indicator, allowing you to see the time and the approximate stage of the local tide from one handsome instrument.

Its heavy cast-brass case gives this model a substantial presence. It feels equally at home inside a yacht, launch or wheelhouse as it does in a coastal home, office or waterfront property. The polished finish, crisp white dial and traditional Arabic numerals provide the classic marine appearance without making the clock difficult to read.

This is not a lightweight nautical decoration. It is a functional German-made instrument designed for people who spend time around the water and appreciate equipment that is built properly.

Why choose this Fischer marine tide clock?

  • Displays standard time and the approximate tide stage on one dial
  • Substantial polished, heavy cast-brass case
  • Handmade in Germany by Fischer
  • Clear white dial with easy-to-read Arabic numerals
  • Separate blue tide hand for quick identification
  • Black hour, minute and seconds hands
  • Protected by mineral glass
  • Reliable quartz timekeeping and Takane tide movement
  • Wall-mounted design
  • English-language dial
  • Powered by one AA alkaline battery
  • Covered by a two-year manufacturer’s warranty

Time and tide on one clear display

The regular clock hands show the current time. The blue tide hand moves around the additional tide scale, indicating whether the tide is moving towards high tide, low tide, flood or ebb.

Once it has been set to a known local high or low tide, the instrument follows the average lunar tide cycle. This gives boat owners, fishers, surfers and coastal households a convenient at-a-glance indication of the changing tide.

It is particularly useful when you regularly visit the same harbour, beach, fishing spot or launching area and want a general view of where the tide should be in its cycle.

For detailed instructions, see our guide to setting up a Fischer tide clock.

Designed for marine and coastal interiors

The polished brass case suits traditional boat interiors, timber cabinetry and classic nautical fittings. It can also introduce a well-made marine detail to a contemporary coastal home without looking like a novelty souvenir.

Mount it in a protected interior location where the dial can be read easily. It makes an excellent companion to a marine barometer, particularly when the instruments are positioned together.

Frequently asked questions

Does this instrument show the regular time?

Yes. This model is both a standard quartz clock and a tide clock. The black hands show the current time, while the separate blue hand indicates the approximate tide stage.

What does a tide clock tell you?

A tide clock provides an approximate indication of the recurring movement between high and low tide. It can help you understand whether the tide is generally coming in, going out, approaching high tide or approaching low tide.

How do I set the tide hand?

Check the time of a local high or low tide using an official tide table or trusted tide forecast. Use the adjustment wheel on the back of the clock to align the tide hand with that stage. Setting or checking it around a full or new moon can improve alignment.

Will the tide reading be exact every day?

Tide clocks follow an average lunar tide cycle. Local weather, atmospheric pressure, coastal geography and other conditions can affect actual tide times, so occasional adjustment may be required.

Can I use a tide clock for navigation?

No. A tide clock is useful for general awareness and planning, but it should not replace official tide tables, marine forecasts or local navigation information when making safety-critical decisions.

Every Fischer instrument comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. But here’s the truth: these are modern heirlooms, engineered in Germany to last a lifetime. Issues are rare (we hardly ever see them).

And if something does happen? Cameron, our founder, runs theofficial Fischer service centre right here. If he can’t fix it (spoiler: he usually can), Fischer will. Either way, you’re covered.

Bottom line: you’re buying peace of mind, not just a weather instrument.

If this product displays a yellow pre-order label at the top of the page, it means the instrument is not currently in stock.

Some pieces are crafted to order in Germany, which typically takes 4–6 weeks. In other cases, we may already have new stock on its way to us.

Once your order is placed, Cameron will personally confirm the expected timeframe. You’ll hear from us again as soon as your instrument is ready to be dispatched.

These are precision instruments made to last a lifetime, and we’ll ensure you’re kept informed every step of the way. If you’d ever like an update, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
